I played it some last night. I was able to hold shrines pretty easily, but the mobility on the player isn't quite as good as on the usual assassin.
What I ended up doing was putting Axe Rake on the player instead of agonizing chop. Then I could actually kill things without chasing them halfway across the map.
Also, the warriors are VERY durable in the current metagame, I had Koss going 1v3 against an assassin with a hexer and a monk. While Goren was killing his R/P and I was capping shrines.
It's easy for a lone character to survive long enough to get everyone back to him.

I've seen a lot of Melandru builds show up in unrated, which is also where I've been trying different combinations. Personally I prefer a gash + sever sword melandru warrior instead of axe at the moment, since the added condition will make the R/P's spam Remedy Signet more instead of using HaO. I've also tried a channeling Rt/R which is basically the ideal counterbuild to W/R since they don't use conditions or hexes and therefore render Melandru useless, while their 100+ damage channeling spells and spirits are enough to kill the warrior. Personally I think Melandru is overpowered at this point, if it can be kept active constantly then +3 health regen or even +2 would already be more than good enough.
